Unleash The Power of Virtual Healthcare!

Hey there, Employers! The landscape of healthcare is rapidly evolving, with virtual healthcare options gaining significant traction.

As employers strive to support the health and well-being of their workforce, promoting engagement with virtual healthcare services has become increasingly important. Studies show that 3 out of 5 employees say they would be uncomfortable leaving work for a preventative healthcare appointment, and nearly 9 out of 10 would reschedule because of workplace pressures. Incorporating virtual healthcare as a core component of wellness initiatives has enormous potential to transform your employee’s health care… and lives!

Here are a few effective strategies to encourage your staff to embrace and utilize virtual healthcare options and to take advantage of the resources that may be available through your insurance carriers:

Education and Awareness:

Get it right from the horse’s mouth! Invite a rep from your insurance carrier to virtually (or in person), share the benefits and convenience of using virtual care. Educating your employees on how virtual healthcare can be utilized to its fullest potential is an amazing way to support your staff! Understanding the many ways your insurance carriers offer virtual care is important. Options may include video visits, phone appointments, E-visit, 24/7 advice hotline or email. Most insurance carriers offer free wellness programs to promote healthy living with support groups and classes, exercise videos and self-care apps to improve sleep, mood and more. Your insurance carriers should have oodles of information available to assist you with this education campaign.

Peer Support and Influence:

Create an Employee Resource Group (ERG) to leverage the power of peer influence by encouraging employees to exchange tips, recommendations and success stories related to virtual care usage. Positive testimonials from peers can significantly influence others to explore and embrace these services.

Designated Space:

Consider designating a private space like a room that has secure internet so employees can engage in virtual healthcare appointments during a break or right before and after their work shift. (Think of this as a similar area of an office designated for breastfeeding individuals to pump during work hours). Both provide privacy, space, and the ability to care for one’s health care needs while at work.

And while we’re talking about everything virtual, here’s a fun tip for your virtual meetings…

Healthy Snack Breaks:

During virtual mid-afternoon meetings, encourage everyone to bring their favorite healthy snacks to avoid that 3pm slump. It’s like having a mini picnic while you discuss organizational strategies, budgets and board minutes! And who doesn’t love a good bowl of popcorn sprinkled with your favorite hot sauce… oh wait, that’s just me!
